Have you ever wondered why you end up with those white spots on your dishes when you just finished washing them? Or perhaps you notice that your bathroom faucets do not shine even though you just cleaned them. Your water is actually leaving those behind.

What is Hard Water?

We trust our water for so many things in our day to day lives. But did you know that water contains different amounts of calcium and magnesium? Just how much of those ingredients decides just how “hard” our water is.
While water with varying degrees of those elements is safe to drink, it can leave behind ugly white spots and increase our household chore workload.

The Wonder of Vinegar

Google “uses of vinegar” and you’ll see a multitude of links describing all the amazing ways that vinegar can be used around the home. Here’s one approach to using vinegar to handle your hard water stains.

Find a couple rags and saturate with vinegar. Place those around the more troublesome areas, such as faucets.

While that soaks, mix an equal amount of water and vinegar to use for your cleaning solution. Grab a pair of rubber gloves and a scrub brush. Go on a search around the kitchen and bathroom to look for spots to scrub while you wait.

In about an hour, return to those soaking rags and finish the area off with your scrub brush and cleaning mixture. Once you’re happy with your new state of clean, rinse the area with a clean sponge or paper towel.
