Sewer Line ProblemsWhat happens when your sewer line stops flowing correctly? Any number of things could happen … bad smells, mold in the wall, sewage draining into the yard … things that you just don’t want to happen!

Clogged Sewer Line

All of us have experienced a clogged drain in our home. They are never welcome and always inconvenient. One of the most common cause of that inconvenience is from the wrong items being put down our drains and toilets.

Many items that seem to be harmless, do not belong down your household drain or toilet. Paper towels, flushable wipes, dental floss, cotton balls & swabs are just a few examples. Out of sight does not mean that it made a successful trip down our sewer line. Watch for our next blog focused on things you should not flush down the toilet and why.

Roots in the Sewer Line

While trees are a beautiful gift of nature, they can also be destructive to our sewer lines. Their roots search for nutrients, and sometimes will grow right into the line causing cracks and eventually breakage. These roots form natural blockages in the pipeline.

Sewer Line Symptoms

1. A sewer line is built to be air tight. You should not be smelling sewer gas anywhere in or near your home. If you do, that is a sign of a crack in your sewer.
2. Slow drains – You may have a sewer line blockage if you are plunging your drains on a regular basis. If your drains are constantly running slow you should give us a call.
3. Mold – When a sewer line in your wall has a crack it gives mold the perfect environment to grow. If you are seeing mold suddenly appear inside your home, call Roto Rooter as soon as possible.
4. Bright Green Grass – Grass loves the nutrients a cracked sewer line can provide. If you notice a section of extra green grass in your yard suddenly appear, you may need sewer line repair.

If you think you may have a sewer crack or blockage, give us a call. You might want to put off having it checked, but the sooner you know the cause, the sooner you can fix the problem and save yourself the possible extra expense by waiting.

Roto-Rooter continues to be the #1 name in plumbing. If you find any possible sewer line problems, check out our money saving coupons and then give us a call.
