Drain and Sewer Cleaning Lake Charle-BeaumontAh, spring is in the air! And you know what that means – it’s time for a little spring cleaning action. But, while you’re dusting off your shelves and getting rid of clothing, have you considered cleaning your drains? If you’re like most homeowners, the answer is probably a resounding no. (Drain cleaning isn’t exactly the most popular cleaning activity out there!) Here’s the thing, though: by taking the time to thoroughly clean your drains, you’ll be contributing a much happier and healthier plumbing system! Here are some of the best ways to clean your drains:

  • Mix baking soda and vinegar. One of the oldest and most effective drain cleaning methods in the books? Baking soda and vinegar! Mix 1/3 cup of baking soda with the same amount of vinegar, then pour this concoction into your drain. The fizzing will clean out any debris and grime that’s accumulated.
  • Toss a lemon peel in the drain. The power of citrus! After you peel a lemon (or orange, or other smell-good citrus fruit), take the time to toss a peel or two in your kitchen drain. This is a great way to both clean your drain and garbage disposal, and keep things smelling fresh!
  • Use boiling water. Yep, that’s it – a simple cup of boiling water can do the trick quite nicely. Pour the water slowly down the drain, then congratulate yourself with a hot toddy using any leftover water.
