Flush Down the ToiletNone of us really want to think about what gets flushed down our toilet … not really. But the toilet was designed for our human waste. Unfortunately it has become a disposal system for so much more and that can cause drainage problems for homeowners. Here’s a list of a few things that shouldn’t be flushed down your toilet!

Bathroom Wipes
These moist towelettes have been advertised as flushable for several years … and it just isn’t so. They are being blamed for clogs in sewer pipes and toilets across the country. Do not flush them!

Kitty litter and kitty poop
Technology is always making advancements with our toilets, trying to make them more water saving and better for the environment. When you consider some of today’s toilets only use 1.6 gallons of water per flush, you can realize why flushing away what your kitty leaves behind down our toilets is not a good idea.

Condoms will clog septic tanks and toilets. Throw them in that trash can. Simple.

Cigarette butts
You may think that emptying your ash tray down the toilet is a safer way to dispose of those cigarette butts. But what may very well happen is that they will clog up your toilet and create a nasty mess on your bathroom floor.

Feminine Hygiene Products
These products are produced to absorb liquid. They are not going to dissolve in our sewage lines or septic tanks. They are going to clog your toilet. They belong in the trash.

You might be pouring liquid into the toilet, but it’s going to cool quickly and become a solid mass in your pipes. Never pour grease down the toilet.

Medication should never be flushed down the toilet. Let’s do our part in keeping the water supply in Lake Charles and Beaumont as clean as possible.

Dental Floss, Cotton Balls, Cotton Swabs
What do all these small items have in common? They are regularly found in the bathroom and because of their size seem harmless to flush. Wrong. When these items combine in our pipes they can create one very large clog.

We know. Diapers are meant to disappear as quickly as possible … and we all know why. That’s what diaper pails are for. Never flush them down the toilet, or they really will be the “gift that keeps on giving.”
